The Day After Independence Day

Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God.

Thomas Jefferson

Today is the day after Independence Day. a fitting time to discuss the current state of our nation - a nation, according to our President, that is no longer a Christian nation. I fear he may be right.

You see, in this nation it is legal to kill your unborn baby, but it is illegal to have a newborn baby out of a government sanctioned car seat. It seems that it is just too dangerous for that precious life so, should you forget and have said newborn out of said government sanctioned car seat, said government will collect a fee from you. Why, you may ask yourself. Because they can.

A few years ago I had a criminal background check ran on me. Why, you again may be wondering. Did I assault someone or rob a bank or commit murder? No. My crime was much more serious than that: I had inadvertently left an unattended cooler at a crowded campsite while on a teen trip to a National Park. It's a good thing they caught me - no telling what other major crimes I might have gone on to commit.

In our little town of Happy, Texas it is illegal to ride a golf cart on Main Street. I know this to be a fact, for I watched as one of our city workers was pulled over by the Texas Highway Patrol for doing just that. So, while the golf cart is the epitome of a "green" vehicle, while it is legal to have a hundred guys in polyester shorts riding their bikes down that same street, and while it is even legal for squirrels, chip monks and opossums to dance in the middle of this same road that passes through the heart of our fair community, it is somehow illegal for an adult to drive a golf cart on it without government approval.

The fact is our nation is getting a weirder and weirder. Small children cannot sell lemonade without paid permission from the government, but that same government seems to find nothing wrong with monitoring our phone calls and e-mails without our permission. We cannot speak out against certain sins, but certain sinners can say anything they want about us. We vote for people who lie to us to get into office, only to have them break their word and then enforce laws like libel, slander and perjury against the little people who voted for them.

Can anyone explain to me why such things are happening - why we put up with such foolishness that borders upon the very tyranny that our founding fathers were so opposed to?

I think I can explain it.

A country that protects the free speech of one group, while at the same time prosecuting the free speech of other groups; a country that teaches it is normal for Johnny to have two daddies, but it is abnormal for others to question the wisdom of such a practice; a country that pays for people not to work while taking the money of people who do to pay for those who don't; a country that kills babies and calls it a "right"...

...is depraved!

And, depraved men always, always, always allow themselves to be ruled by tyrants. Is this what we really want for our children?

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, soGod gave them over to a depraved mind so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.

Romans 1:28-29, NIV

Obamacare Exemptions For All

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

President John Adams

Chief Justice John Roberts re-wrote the healthcare bill and then declared it Constitutional. This so outraged the four dissenting Supreme Court Justices that they each declared the action and the law, "Unconstitutional".

Our Congress wrote the law with the stipulation that all Americans, including congressmen, would be required to take part in the so-called Obamacare. Afterwards, they awarded themselves an exemption.

The President issued an Executive Order, declaring that abortions would not be part of Obamacare. Now, he is requiring every tax paying American to pay for the abortions under Obamacare for those who don't have quite enough money to pay for the murder of their own babies.

Then, President Obama unilaterally and unconstitutionally changed the law over a dozen times.

It's gotta be good to be King!

I think I will award myself a personal exemption. While I'm at it, I think I'll award everyone else who doesn't want to take part in this immoral, irreligious, and unconstitutional program an exemption as well.

"You don't have the authority to do that", you might be thinking.

Neither do they... but they did it anyway.

When the righteous triumph, there is great elation; but when the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding.

Proverbs 28:12, NIV

The Hypocrisy of Obamacare

"Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen. And now, any of those who refuse, or are unable to prove they are citizens will receive free insurance paid for those who are forced to buy insurance because they are citizens"

Ben Stein

Now, fathom the hypocrisy of a group of people who say they stand for "pro-choice" telling those of us who are against killing babies in the womb that we must not only let them be free to make this choice, but also we must be forced to buy "health" insurance against our choice... and that we must pay for everyone who cannot or will not pay for the killing of their own babies!

For those who cannot fathom why this makes me mad, maybe the following will help:

I don't believe that I would have taken part in fighting for the owning of slaves during the civil war.

I don't believe that I would have taken part in the extermination of Jews during WWII.

And..

I don't think that I will be taking part in this type of health care.

You see, I have read the Bible and I have found out what God has to say about hypocrites. Frankly, I believe that I would rather pay the penalty this side of Judgment for not joining the hypocrites, than pay the penalty after the Judgment that is reserved for those who join the hypocrites now.

"You snakes. You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to Hell?"

Jesus, speaking of hypocrites, as recorded in Matthew 23:33

Taking the Country Back

Let me now... warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party.

George Washington in his Farewell Address

The word "baneful" is defined as destructive and poisonous. There may be no better description of politics in America in the 21st century. It seems our politicians have forgotten who they serve. Their actions seem to indicate that they prefer division and ruin of the nation, to the possibility of losing power. The thing we need to remember is that it has not always been that way, nor does this poisonous path to destruction have to continue.

There was a time when honor, character and courage were the hallmarks of this nation's servants. Now it seems that the letter behind the politicians name is more important to voters  than virtue. So our once great nation is going the way of other once great nations: To the brink of financial and moral bankruptcy.

At the time of this writing we have a government mired in the scandals of cover-ups, deceit of its own people and lying that can only be described as pathological. If that were not bad enough, they are now spying on us as if it were we who could not be trusted. Ironic, isn't it?

But this does not have to be. Imagine what our nation would be like if we no longer voted for those with a track record of lies and deceit. Imagine what it would be like if we refused to cast our vote for a person who lacked character or honor. Consider what would happen if we made a firm determination to vote only  for the decent, for the honorable, and for the upright in our society.

Ridiculous? Naive? Try righteous! The fact is that if we continue to do what we have always done, if we continue to place loyalty to party over the standards of our Lord, then we will continue to have scoundrels making our laws and telling us what to do.

America is in trouble. We have become so overrun with the baneful spirit of party that we cannot trust our chosen leaders to do the right thing or even tell the truth. We wouldn't accept such conduct from from anyone else but a politician and it's time to stop accepting it from them. We have one party that cannot seem to tell the truth and another party that appears too afraid to do anything about it. It now falls to us to right what is wrong with our nation - if we are to leave a nation to our children that is worth living in. To do so we will have to return to God. It begins with prayer, but actions will have to follow prayer, for God will not help those who are too wicked or lazy to help themselves.

It is time to take our country back!

The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just. The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip. The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, seeking their very lives; but the Lord will not leave them in power.

Psalms 37:30-33, NIV

What We Like About America

Providence has given to our people the choice of our rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their leaders.John Jay, First Supreme Court Justice

Perhaps the most distressing aspect of our leadership in America is their lack of vision. I’m convinced that the liberal segment of government really feels that they make things better when they dismantle the Constitution, just as I’m convinced that the conservative segment of government feels powerless to enforce that same Constitution when they see it being violated.

But they are wrong, and their erroneous thinking is robbing us of the very things we enjoy about America. Honesty, safety, purity, a strong work ethic, integrity and the like used to be the rule of our great country, not the exception. And things worked the way they were designed to because we were unashamedly a Christian nation - and true Christianity always works.

For example, our welfare system was set up to take care of those who are in genuine need. Do you know anyone (be honest with yourself now) that really wants our widows, the handicapped and those who truly cannot take care of themselves, to starve… or to go without clothing… or to live on the streets?

No decent person stands by and lets the innocent suffer, but by minimizing the Christian ethic and focusing on an “enlightened” secular humanism, we have corrupted the welfare system into a game of plunder instead of a handup.

Does anyone really believe that the Ten Commandments posted in a school orcourthouse will do any harm? Or that praying at a ball game will corrupt our children? Or that teaching these same children abstinence (instead of how many ways they can pervert themselves) will somehow be dangerous? Or that a Bible on the bed stand in a motel will cause atheists to suffer?

Our courts have voted that killing babies in the womb is noble, but that not keeping our 4’7” ten year olds in a booster seat is a crime that must be punished. Our grandmothers, wives and daughters are groped at every airport, while our government releases convicted terrorists who have sworn to kill as many Americans as possible. And, what we liked about America is rapidly disappearing.

You see, the truth is that wisdom comes only from God. So, when an enlightened society prefers worldly leaders and worldly ways over Christian leaders and Christian ways, is it any wonder that this same enlightened society loses everything that made it valuable in the firstplace? We must turn back to God, and soon, or we will risk losing everything that we love about this great nation. The reality is that the things we like about America can only come about through Christian living.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and knowledge. Proverbs 1:7, NIV
