The National Day of Defiance

Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The steadfast love of the LORD endures all the day. Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, you worker of deceit. You love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking what is right. You love all the words that devour, O deceitful tongue.

But God will break you down...

Psalms 52:1-5, ESV

Have you seen what is planned for June 14, 2025? By the time you read this article, the day will probably have come and gone, but not the consequences. They are calling it, "A National Day of Defiance" and "No Kings Day" and are advertising it as a patriotic day of protest. But make no mistake, it has nothing to do with patriotism, and it certainly has little to do with a protest against an abuse of power

I don't want you to misunderstand, there is plenty of abuse of power in America during our present day and age, and both sides of our warring political parties must shoulder their share of blame for these abuses, but this is not at all what the day of defiance is about. It is about powers on a world level trying to challenge the sovereignty of a nation, and it should not go unnoticed.

For the past several years, many of our politicians on both sides of the political aisle have been taking part. Borders have been opened, illegals have literally been flown into various airports, and criminals have been actively recruited and brought into our country. It is true that there have also been many families coming in during these times, legitimately seeking a better life for themselves, but this has no relation with what is about to take place. We have already seen the riots going on in Los Angeles, and many more riots have been planned which are about to take place beginning on June 14. People are being recruited with offers of $6,500 and up to come take part. In Texas, a line of 25 chartered busses is being monitored as they make their way to our state's capital for this day of protest. And with promises of $1,500 per day and $6,500 to $12,000 until the job is done to take part, you have to assume that these people are not being brought in to simply carry protest signs and wave flags.

And speaking of flags, these protestors who say they love America so much that they want to stay here illegally are burning the American flag in the streets, while proudly waving the flags of Mexico. The President of Mexico calls them heroes for their exercising their rights to protest on foreign soil, while at the same time knowing it is illegal for foreigners to protest in Mexico.

Meanwhile in California, the Governor protests at the thought of American troops being brought in to stop foreigners from burning his largest city.

America has a problem, and it goes far beyond the political squabbles that we see in the news. A concerted effort has been made (and accomplished) to bring large numbers of military aged men into our country. Wise people will ask, "for what purpose has this been allowed?" Wise people will also ask why our so-called "unbiased news sources" have been engaged in political sides for the past number of years. Why has America allowed this to come to this point? Do we really hate the other political side so much that we would rather see our cities burn than to admit that we have a problem?

I know that this is somewhat of an unusual topic for this platform, but I believe Christians in America need to wake up before they lose the country that has done so much to allow religious freedom for so many years. Too many Christians are more concerned with their favorite political party than they are with the righteousness of the church and this nation, and as a result are in danger of losing both. America is currently on life-support, and our enemies can sense our weakness. That, I believe, is why they are mobilizing now for this National Day of Defiance. I am afraid that this defiance has little to do with those who are concerned about our nation, but much to do with those who hate America, and are looking for clever ways to bring it down.

So, what can we do? By the time you read this, June 14th will likely have been here and gone, but the trouble has just begun. This effort is well financed, and many of our politicians have been well paid to fan the flames of its aftermath. I believe that it is time for Christians to admit that they have turned a blind eye to sin in our nation, and to beg God's forgiveness for doing so. Once having made our lives right with God, we then need to be praying for wisdom as to how we should respond to these open attacks on America's sovereignty. The reason should be clear: America has been the world's leader in promoting the free exercise of religion. In recent years, we have ignored our courts and our political leader's efforts to diminish this freedom. After all, we thought it the "Christian" thing to do. What I believe we are finding is that by allowing our religious freedoms to be infringed upon, we have slowly begun to enslave ourselves to the devil.

And if you don't believe that, just turn on the evening news and watch our cities burn. We can disagree on the root of the problem, we can even argue over which political side is most responsible for the problem, but we can no longer claim that we don't have a problem. Alexis de Tocqueville once wrote that America was great because America was good, but should she ever cease to be good, America would cease to be great. I believe we are witnessing first-hand the accuracy of his prediction. The question is what will we do about it?

The first step is repentance, The second is to humbly entreat God for His help. If we have a righteous cause, God will indeed help. The third step is for us to begin to take a righteous stand. This step could cost us something, I know, but sometimes good people just have to take a stand regardless of consequence, or evil people will take over. What will we do, I wonder, if the side of evil wins? It is time for good people to wake up and return to God. I think our time is very limited, so we better make that start soon.
